Watton Ramblers, which started 7 years ago (guided by Maurice Gordon, who is now its President), are a friendly informal group of walkers who organize walks, both local and further afield, on a regular basis.
They meet at the Community Hall car-park, where, if required, transport (i.e. lifts) to the starting point of a walk is arranged.
The group has a committee that organizes a programme of events, including social activities such as an annual BBQ and a post-Christmas dinner.
During recent years, the Watton Ramblers enjoyed a walking weekend in Suffolk and Rutland, and plans are in place for similar walks.
Watton Ramblers charge an annual-membership fee of £3 per person or £5 per couple, although there is no fee for children under the age of 16 who come along with parents or friends.
In addition to their normal activities, the Watton Ramblers support the Walking for Health Group which meets at the Community Hall car-park every Tuesday morning at 1000. If you want to try it, just turn up and enjoy a 3 to 4 mile walk in the beautiful countryside around Watton-at-Stone.
